About us

In 2023 January 1 The Science and Encyclopedia Publishing Center (hereinafter - the Center) became a structural part of the National Martynas Mažvydas Library (www.lnb.lt).

The Centre publishes universal and branch encyclopaedias, monolingual, bilingual and multilingual glossaries, linguistic and school dictionaries, manuals and directories, works of the Lithuanian and world cultural, scientific and technical heritage, memorials of the Lithuanian writing and ethnical culture, scientific, technical, fiction works, popular science and pedagogical literature, textbooks for higher and further education schools, information publications, and a journal Gimtoji kalba (Native Language).

Main tasks of the Centre:

• to prepare and publish fundamental scientific and cultural publications, to accumulate and systemize scientific (encyclopaedic and lexicographical) information, and to carry out scientific researches on methodology and bibliography of scientific information;

• to implement the programmes of national publishing trade; to prepare and publish universal and branch encyclopaedias in Lithuanian and other languages, Lithuanian, bilingual dictionaries, glossaries, manuals and directories; works of the Lithuanian and world cultural, scientific and technical heritage, memorials of the Lithuanian writing and ethnical culture, scientific, technical literature, textbooks for higher and further education schools, information publications, and periodical journal of general language Gimtoji kalba (Native Language);

• to prepare the long-term programmes of preparation and publishing of scientific literature at its own discretion or on the ground of orders, to collect information base for multi-volume encyclopaedic publications;

• to expand programmes of preparation and publishing of literature, to collect information base for multi-volume encyclopaedic publications;

• to create computerized processing methodology of scientific information (encyclopaedic, lexicographic) and bibliography.

Our publications may be bought without any commercial mark-up in the Commercial Unit (bookstore).
The unit’s employees may provide consultations on any issues of retail and wholesale of the Centre’s publications.
